Whether attending a destination business meeting, corporate retreat, or trade show, the best connections are often made outside the conference room. And when you take advantage of a San Antonio spring, those team memories can be made outside in the open air!
Spring is the perfect time to plan a destination meeting in San Antonio, especially if you want to give your guests opportunities to explore unique cultural experiences and enjoy cooler Texas weather.
San Antonio's average spring temperatures range from the high 60s to the low 80s. Pair that with sunny skies, and you have some of the best weather Texas has to offer. Many downtown accommodations are within walking distance of key destinations, such as the 1.6 million-square-foot Henry B. González Convention Center and famous attractions like The Alamo. When the weather is nice, team transportation is as easy as walking out of the hotel lobby.
The San Antonio River Walk, known as the “world’s largest hotel lobby,” offers easy walkable access to popular attractions and dining destinations. Rather than hosting team dinners inside traditional banquet halls, the cool spring weather provides the unique opportunity to host alfresco dinners on the banks of the river.
Restaurants with expansive riverside patio dining include Acenar, Casa Catrina, Casa Rio, and Elsewhere Kitchen & Bar. For a truly memorable experience, you can even book a dinner on the river itself. GO RIO River Cruises partners with famous San Antonio restaurants like Biga and Paesanos to host one-of-a-kind dinner cruises. Board your boat and enjoy a team dinner with the best view of the River Walk.

Spring is also when San Antonio hosts its largest celebration, Fiesta. Fiesta San Antonio is an 11-day citywide event with over 100 different festivities, including parades, food festivals, carnivals, and more. It has been a local tradition since 1891 as a way to remember the defenders in Texas battles and support the community through charitable donations. Hosting a team outing at one of Fiesta’s many events is the perfect way to experience local culture while creating a unique team-building experience.
In addition to Fiesta, there are so many other opportunities to explore San Antonio's culture and history during the spring season. Your team can take advantage of the beautiful weather to explore San Antonio’s Missions, stroll the quaint avenues of the La Villita Historic Arts District, or spend a day off at the Historic Pearl. It is also the perfect weather to book a team scooter rental or walking tour.
This year, Hemisfair is announcing a new springtime addition to the San Antonio downtown landscape. On March 18, the second phase of Civic Park will open to the public. The new phase will connect Hemisfair with one of the city’s busiest pedestrian intersections, Alamo Street and Market Street. This will provide visitors with even easier access to downtown offerings, including restaurants, attractions, and green space, where they can take a peaceful stroll after a day of meetings.
