Outfitted with the state-of-the-art Henry B. González Convention Center, over 14,000 guest room options, and the beautiful walkability of the River Walk, it’s no wonder why Downtown San Antonio is a repeat choice for business conferences, trade shows, and corporate retreats. And the amenities only continue to grow.
Five new meeting venues in Downtown San Antonio are quickly making their mark, hosting some of the city’s latest business events, both large and small. Let’s take a look at the unique amenities each has to offer.
Opened in 2024, the InterContinental is the newest hotel on the San Antonio River Walk. Perfect for larger company retreats and conventions, the hotel offers 11 meeting rooms, 390 guest rooms, and a reception hall capacity of up to 900. Guests will enjoy amenities including an on-site restaurant, rooftop bar and pool, and effortless access to San Antonio’s famous River Walk, lined with the city’s top restaurants, bars, shopping, and attractions.
Also opened in 2024, the Kimpton Santo Hotel blends San Antonio’s old-world charm with modern elegance. Situated between Downtown and Southtown, the location provides easy access to two of the city’s most lively neighborhoods, as well as the convention center. The hotel offers 11 meeting rooms, 347 guest rooms, and a reception hall capacity of up to 500. Guest amenities include an on-site steak restaurant, speakeasy-style bar, rooftop pool, and wellness amenities like in-room yoga mats and bicycles.
The Plaza Hotel & Spa was another 2024 addition to the Downtown landscape. The garden-inspired property feels peaceful while being conveniently perched between the bustling Downtown and Southtown neighborhoods. It offers 10 event rooms, 6 breakout rooms, over 250 guest rooms, and a reception hall with a capacity of 792. The hotel also offers an on-site restaurant and expansive patio bar, but the spa is what sets this location apart from the rest. The luxurious amenities and relaxing feel of the Plaza make it the perfect destination for corporate retreats.
One of the most flexible Downtown event spaces is the 1902 Venue. It opened its doors in 2021 to St. Paul Square, a charming neighborhood just east of Downtown and steps away from the Alamodome and Henry B. González Convention Center. The impeccably restored historic train station is now referred to as “The Building of 1,000 Lights” and “The Crown Jewel of San Antonio,” and it makes for a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable guest experience. The 13,000 indoor-outdoor spaces can hold anywhere from 50 to 1,300 people indoors and expand to accommodate 2,500 to 3,500 outdoor guests. This is the perfect spot for any event, from a charity ball to a full-on concert.
If you are looking to host a smaller corporate luncheon or breakout meeting, Bombay Bicycle Club at Hemisfair (opened 2023) offers a fun atmosphere and convenient location. Nestled in Hemisfair Park just a few blocks from the convention center, the restaurant offers two private meeting spaces outfitted with AV equipment and capacity for up to 30 guests. Full reception buyouts can hold as many as 250. The menu features sandwiches, burgers, and nachos, as well as a full bar for a casual but still professional feel.
