One of the many beautiful things about San Antonio is its rich blending of cultures. San Antonio is filled with old traditions and new celebrations stemming from cultures from all over the world.

January 10-26, 2025

The annual DreamWeek San Antonio Summit is a two-week event series that fosters the free exchange of ideas on universal issues affecting humanity. During these community events, real-world problems are discussed in an open forum with dignity, compassion, and understanding.

Events include forums, speaker panels, film screenings, and art exhibitions, all aiming to ignite positive change in our community.

This year, DreamWeek will take place from January 10- 26, 2025. January 20, 2025

Did you know San Antonio is home to one of the largest Martin Luther King Jr. Marches in the nation? San Antonio invites the entire community to participate in the 38th Annual MLK March on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10 AM.

The march starts at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy and is followed by a celebration at Pittman-Sullivan Park featuring multicultural performances and food vendors.

January 20, 2025

The 31st Annual MLK Grande Parade will be held on January 20, 2025, at 10 AM in Midtown, starting on San Jacinto Street & Elgin Street. The parade's theme this year is "Unity Through Diversity.” It will feature culturally diverse performance groups from across the nation for a truly celebratory and moving event.

SAAACAM is San Antonio’s community-based archive of Black stories. In its La Villita Historic Arts Village archive, you will find digitized, audiovisual exhibits rich in culture, storytelling, and empowerment.

2025 Legacy Awards Ball

The annual Legacy Ball is an opportunity for community leaders to come together and celebrate Black Excellence while enjoying food and drink by San Antonio’s premier Black chefs and brands.

February 1, 8, and 15, 2025

Hop aboard a 100-minute river cruise during Black History Month and discover the rich cultural impact and history Black communities had in the development of San Antonio.

Performances Throughout the Year

Since 1929, the Black community has taken a seat at The Carver for everything from watching their local high school graduation and play productions to seeing world-class acts like Aaron Neville and Gregory Porter.

Aundar Ma’at and Born Logic Allah created the San Antonio Black History Tour in response to their documentary Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City. The first tour kicked off in 2019 as part of DreamWeek, showcasing historic sites from the film.

Now, private tours are available for booking year-round, and public group tours are open for special-themed events.
