Privacy PolicyIt’s March in San Antonio, which means it’s time for the city’s annual Contemporary Art Month — lovingly dubbed CAM. Every year, CAM offers a platform for artists, performers, curators, filmmakers, and students to showcase their works across San Antonio galleries, museums, and pop-up installations. This year’s calendar is packed with arts and culture events you can’t miss.
The first Contemporary Art Month was hosted by the director of the Southwest School of Art and Craft in 1986 at what is now the Contemporary at Blue Star. Since then, the organization’s mission has been to promote contemporary artists and curators in San Antonio. In 2010, CAM officially moved from July to March. In 2012, CAM introduced the Perennial Exhibition, where a curator from outside San Antonio is invited to host a show featuring local artists they find impactful.
This year’s Perennial Exhibition is The Inbetweenness, curated by Marisa Sage. The exhibition explores the fluid transitions between language and culture. In partnership with the UTSA Southwest Campus, the exhibition features artists Huakai Chen, Brittany Ham, Gabi Magaly, Bella Martinez, Josie Norris, and Jorge Villarreal. It will be on view in the Russell Hill Rogers Galleries in the Santikos building from March 22 - April 12, 2025. It’s just one of many events to choose from this year.
